Mods for Sword of the Stars: The Pit are files and/or programs that change the game's content from what the original version had. Mods can affect the configuration files, source code, sprites, or any combination thereof.
Config File Mods[]
Mods that alter the config files change the .xnb files located in the "Content" subdirectory of the game's install folder. If you are using steam on windows the default directory is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Pit". It is advisable to make a backup of the "Content" folder before overwriting the original files.
Source Code Mods[]
Source code mods change game behavior and must use a patch program to update ThePit.exe. Like other mods, it is best to make a backup before making any changes.

| The Pit Fan Mod | Includes many bug fixes, adds items and monsters that never showed up in base game, as well as changing how many mechanics work. Adds three new characters, "Assassin", "Warbot", and "Crazed Human". Includes an "unlock all recipes" button, double level notice, ability to drop floor keys, and many other quality of life changes. Current version 2.6.7 is compatible with Pit 1.6.2 "Osmium".

| The Quality of Life Mod 2.1.0 | This mod preserves the mechanics and steam connection while adding a number of features from the Fan Mod like the "unock all recipes" button, options to speed up the game, a linked sotsdex, a more informative HUD, and key commands to drop all items with durability and pick up all items.
